Breakfast Buddies is a fresh initiative in Maidstone, providing a supportive weekend community for those who need it.
Recognising the importance of a nutritious breakfast for mental health and well-being, our mission is to offer a welcoming space where anyone can enjoy a meal and companionship.
People have been telling us for some time that one of the worst things about being street homeless is feeling invisible while other people go about their daily lives; that they feel marginalised and stigmatised. For this reason, at Breakfast Buddies, our focus goes further than simply the provision of food - we want people to feel respected, dignified and worthy of human connection.
We offer breakfasts every Saturday in a safe and welcoming space, providing a regular event that people can look forward to. This offers something to get up for, particularly when other local support services like the Day Centre are closed at the weekend.
Situated by the river and in the centre of town, we are accessible to many and offer a serene environment for a mindful stroll post-breakfast.

We’re so grateful for the incredible support from The National Lottery, whose funding has helped us get Breakfast Buddies off the ground and thriving. Their generosity has covered much of our setup costs, as well as funding for food, training, and the social activities that bring our community together.
Thanks to this support, we can keep serving meals, offering kindness, and creating a safe, welcoming space for people who need it most. We’re hopeful that with their continued support next year, we can grow even further and reach more people in our community.
